Peskov: Russia to battle each seizure of assets of Russians
MOSCOW, Sep 7 (PRIME) -- Moscow will not leave a single case of illegal seizure of the assets of Russians without attention, there will be serious legal battles against every seizure, President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.
The U.S. said it would send U.S. $5.4 million the same sum that had been seized earlier from sanctioned Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeyev to the Ukrainian military.
“Not a single case of this illegal seizure will be left unattended, and each case is personal and has its own aspects. We have to look into the details of each case, but it will definitely turn into serious legal proceedings. We will not leave it just like that,” Peskov said.
Some suits against asset seizures have already been launched, and some Russian businessman have already succeeded in different European countries. Some European courts have already acknowledged these seizures illegal, and the Russian government will continue working on behalf of its businessmen, he said.
The asset seizures in the U.S. are illegal, and any statements that the West found legal grounds for this are legal nonsense, he added.
